FALL 2022

FALL 2022

New Preschool, K-5, & Forest School Program
Launching Fall 2022

Looking for something different with your child's learning environment? Folksy is what you've been looking for. Fall 2022 will be the launch of our brand new preschool, K-5 morning program, and our afternoon Forest School, all with a well-rounded and unique approach to education.

Our space is designed for children to feel the warmth of home, away from home. They are met with kindness, a simplistic and well-rounded daily rhythm, so that they may immerse themselves in play and practical skills. Rooms are carefully curated to meet their needs, with soft natural textures and materials like cloth dolls, wood, open ended objects for imaginative and dramatic play.

Children of all ages will enjoy baking bread and preparing nourishing snacks, contribute to our garden, paint and draw, develop a skill in handwork, and become community stewards who care and support one another. Pulling inspiration from Waldorf, Montessori, and Reggio-Emilia philosophies, we strive to create a truly magical program.

Our Teachers & Staff

We value a progressive approach to education, in which new ideas, practices, and styles are incorporated to support and enrich the student experience from early childhood programming through age 11.

Our core group of certified teachers are responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of their class, for presenting their rhythm, for working directly with children and parents, and serves as an advisory board for the Director and Board in decision-making.

Our foundation work-cycle instructors teach subjects specific to their talents and passions, creating an integrated approach to student learning.

Folksy in the Forest

"Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better." - Albert Einstein

Our Folksy in the Forest nature-based afternoon program focuses on child-centered emergent learning
opportunities and is rooted in play-based learning.  Forest education has so many benefits, including problem-solving,
risk-taking, engagement, focus and concentration and self-discovery. Through collaborative projects with their peers, compassion towards the earth, and a deep sense of belonging, children thrive in an outdoor learning environment.
Our focus is on cultivating and growing the process of learning, not on lesson plans. While children are discovering
nature they will be encouraged to assimilate new information and problem solve through divergent thinking.

Folksy in the Forest runs Monday through Friday
12pm-3pm for Toadstools
1pm-4pm for Gnomes

Our Enrollment is an Intentional Process...

The Director will contact you within a week of your meeting to discuss. If all spaces are full, you will receive an email to let you know that your child has been placed on a waiting list.

Our application process will open up officially on March 15, 2022. After submitting your application, Folksy will reach out to schedule an initial meeting with you. After meeting each other at the school, the parents, teachers, and children need to feel confident that Folksy is the right fit.
