Folksy Club is a nurturing and educational enrichment space for children. We offer structured gatherings throughout the week, a playspace, a practical skill area, and a community of families connected through seasonality, slowness, and making the everyday magic.
All of our programming takes place at The Folksy House located in a historic 1800's carriage house on the property of 9060 Main Street in Clarence, NY. Our space includes a tri-level upstairs that has a Waldorf/Montessori inspired play space, a learning table, and a Practical Skill area with a sewing machine, type writer, cataloged library and more. Downstairs hosts an enchanted art room, a farm-to-table plant-based kitchen and eat-in area, and plenty of green spots under old shady trees for all-season outdoor play
Join our community and become a Folksy Bud for $96/month. In addition to our Folksy Bud programming on Tuesdays and Thursdays, you may also bring your Folksy Bud to enjoy our play space during your Folksy Gnome or Folksy Explorer's classes for $135/month total. You can also choose 1/day a week for $60/month.

Time set aside during the day for individualized lessons with a parent and curriculum work in the main subjects. Younger siblings may enjoy the play space or practical skill area with a Buds membership. It’s our community goal to keep this time respectfully reserved for learning. Voices should be kept low, and play should be non-rowdy.
Club members can request lessons on the different stations in the practical skill area from typewriting, needle felting, sewing, wonder cabinet, library, and our “open invitation” learning table which changes out periodically.
Not a formal class, but an offering. Children may sign up for 10 minutes slots in the music area to practice a piano lesson, improvise, or explore some auxiliary instruments in the space.
Learn all about different sports, from Baseball to Soccer and everything in between. Your gnome will learn a little about the history of the game, the rules, how they are played, as well as good sportsmanship.
Gather round, snuggle in and cozy up. We’ll be reading a classic children’s chapter book in the comfort of blankets followed by engaging discussions.
Music, the chromatic scale, and how to play together as a group. Learners will learn about simple notation, following notes and beats, and listening to others to create an ensemble.
Reading, listening, memorizing and observing the thoughtful phonetics in poetry, its authors, and trying our own hand at writing simple structure poems.
Learn about simple machines and how to do upkeep and maintenance. How to tune up a bicycle in the spring? How to unclog a vacuum? Mini lessons that will serve for a lifetime.
Children will be able to learn about the masters and utilize our art supplies to create masterpieces of their own in a fun and nurturing setting with engaging discussions.
Help get our garden growing. This class will be looking at compost worms, a composter, and seed starting through transplanting. Hands will be helping get our soil ready, and help plan out where things will be laid out. We will begin by looking at the calendar and talking about the seasons.
Introduction to conversational Spanish, counting and culture, along with a connection to a sister program based in the Dominican Republic for conversation and friendship.
Learn basic techniques in finger knitting, needle knitting, loom, and crochet to create child-treasure items such as seasonal enchantments, dolls, and wares.
Nature study & curiosity exploration covering topics such as moon phases, life cycles, weather, tree study, bees & pollination, plant growth, and forms of matter.
Simple techniques and simple meals for little hands. This class is mostly to try and explore new foods, taste things they might otherwise not.
Finishing cycles to end the day, tidying and cleaning the space initiated by the parents, wiping and sanitizing tables and surfaces, taking home personal belongings.

Take a deep dive into stories that have been adapted to the screen. Discuss plot, development and character during our book study. Our study will culminate in the viewing of the movie adaptation and discussion of the contrasting points of the two tellings.
Study artists and their works from different time periods. Discover the reasons behind their art as we discuss history during that time. Every few weeks will be our studio time, and the class will create their own works using the techniques discussed.
Write your own stories to excite the imagination of your friends and family. Build creative writing skills in all writing genres and work on honing your writing skills with the support of your community.
Learn simple fixes for everyday objects in the home. We will also develop building skills and work together to plan and build our garden boxes for our folksy vegetable garden space.
A time for us to relax and get to know our budding community. Bring a lunch or order at our small café.
