The Folksy Promise

Kindness to you, Kindness to me
We look and we find what we're longing to see
With hands and our heart, we're learning to be
What the world needs from you and the world needs from me.

I'll build a skill that is helpful to me
and help you become the best you can be.
Our seasons guide us as we grow and learn
and I feel accomplished by the patches I earn.

I am joy, I am peace, I am capable and strong
in all that I do, even singing a song.
We celebrate all who join us each day
We're inclusive and kind, we give everyone a say.

Guided by curiosity, wonder and beauty
I promise to uphold my true Folksy duties.

Folksy SCout Foundations

Here are our core principles. We guide all of our activities and programming around one of these ten foundations.

Handwork, Knife & Tools Skills

Developing fine motor skills is so important and useful for little hands (and big hands too!) but what's really special about handwork is the connection it creates.

Folksy Needle

Thrifting, Mending, upcycling

We'll be learning the basics of thrifting and shopping secondhand to acquire things we need or desire, how to mend clothing, and to upcycle goods that need repair.

Gardening & Harvesting

Having an awareness and dedication to where our food comes from, how it grows, and how to cultivate it for our own health and wellbeing in a sustainable way for our earth.

Homestead Patch

Homestead building

How to take what we have and make it into something that can serve us. How to create a micro-environment of things that not only make us happy but help us thrive.

Hosting Gathering Patch

Hosting & Gathering
